Today Woody and Carole (Mrs Woody) drove from Grangeville, ID to Polson, MT by way of Hwy 12. Hwy 12 follows the Clearwater, & Chochsa River up to LoLo Pass in Idaho. The Rivers are very high with a much larger volume of water than most years.
They met with another Jeep Expeditions member (Elkpkr) & Joyce at their summer home in Flat Head Lake. They have a great spot that looks out onto a private cove where Dick keeps his boat. Dick bbq'd a Montana Steak for Carole & I and we talked for a few hrs about life & kids and our trip.
Carole and Woody then drove to Columbia Falls, MT where they are staying tonight and tomorrow night to give them a full day to visit Glacier NP before crossing over into Canada on Thursday June 30th.
Woody reported that his Jeep is getting a solid 14mpg due to his packing lighter than he usually does.
Hey it's a Jeep, there's more to life than mpg !

The Arctic Jeep Expedition Begins !
ZJ Woody has started his journey to Canada ! Woody posted on the Jeep Expeditions members only forum that he has started out on what he has dubbed "Woody, Russ & Sam's Canadian Rockies Adventure".
Woody, Russ and Sam wanted to spend more time in the Canadian Rockies, namely the Ice Fields Parkway area between Banff and Jasper, Canada.
They will be meeting in Banff on June 30th to explore this beautiful area that includes the Canadian Glacier National Park and Lake Louise. They will end up in Jasper on July 4th. On July 5th, the rest of us will meet up with the "3 Musketeers" and begin our Adventure to the Arctic. In the meantime, our two groups will keep in contact with our Iridium Satellite Phones.
As a final note, Woody posted this picture as he always does before a trip. This one is not only Alaska themed but also international too as Woody has his Passport ready.

Recovery Gear for the Trip
Recovery Gear is an important part of any off-road adventure. The Arctic Jeep Expedition will feature nearly 3,000 miles of off-road travel.
In addition to the usual recovery gear such as a Hi-Lift Extreme Jack, MaxAxe Tool and a winch, I have also added some new gear for this trip.
On Board Air - Kleinn Automotive Model 6350 100% duty OBA system - consists of 150psi compressor, 2.5 gallon air tank, 35' of air hose with carry bag and more.
Recovery Kit - Westin Automotive T-Max Recovery Kit -consists of carry bag, tree saver strap, bow shackle, gloves, 4" snatch block and more
Recovery Rope - Bubba Rope 30' Recovery Rope - a new and unique Snatch Rope with carry case rated at 28,600 lbs
The RespondR Utility Ring - RespondR 200 - Pull up to 10,000 lbs from ANY direction with this Military inspired product that makes use of your trailer hitch.
